This presentation takes a detailed look back, from the origins of Day of the Dead to the modern-day celebration. It begins with a look at pre-Hispanic culture, then covers how the tradition evolved during the Spanish conquest, and ends with the holiday we have today. The presentation also contains information on how to build an ofrenda and the different types of ofrendas.

About the Presenter: Consulate Porras is a filmmaker and the current cultural attaché of the Mexican Consulate in Detroit. He studied at Los Angeles City College and California State University, Los Angeles. Marlon has more than 10 years in the film and entertainment industry, with works in Mexico and the United States. Currently, he is promoting Mexican culture abroad in Michigan and Ohio.
